Writers’ Conference for Young Authors

Encouraging Spanish Fort Middle School’s 6th graders to become more engaged to write in various formats, SFEEF sponsors a Writers’ Conference for Young Authors in 2019.  SFEEF secured a Scholastic Books sponsorship for over 600 books so that our 6th graders could have their own titles to read after an outstanding day meeting  published authors.   Authors  ranging in genres from magazine, songwriting, newspaper, blogging, young author novels, and sportswriters  graciously donated their time for breakout sessions with students.  Keynote speaker, Watt Key was a fan favorite!  Thank you to Author Watt Key, George Fuller JR. (Singer/Songwriter and Portico Magazine), Hayley Hill (Access Magazine), Author Jodie Cain Smith,  Grayson Capps (Singer/Songwriter), Author John O’Melveny Woods, Leslie Anne Tarabella (Author and Newspaper Columnist), Mark Inabinett (AL.com Sportswriter),  Author Eleanor Stewart, and Author Charlie Price.

Authors brought books, magazines and samples of their work and each presented a different view to students on how to be a successful writer.

Spanish Fort Middle School Teachers did an outstanding job of preparing students to meet authors and to create a special atmosphere that won’t soon be forgotten!
